My Sister's Keeper

I've read three Jodi Picoult's book and My Sister's Keeper is my favourite, definetely. Its about 13-year old Anna Fitzgerald questions her existence because she was brought to the world (concieved through IVF) for only one purpose: to keep her older sister, Kate, alive.

Although she loves her sister dearly, Anna also wants complete independence and ownership of her body. The book begins when she makes a decision that rattles her already quite dysfunctional family: she hires a lawyer to get medical emancipation from her family.

I like how this book has a very morally controversial topic. On first overview, it seems completely wrong (i still believe it is) to have a child for the wrong reasons. Or have a child just to save another one. If it’s just a one-off thing, sure it is justifiable. But to bound a child throughout her life to just being another child’s sustainance is just unfair.

And YES they're making the movie!!! And guess who will play as Kate Firtzgerald, its one of my favourite actresses as well Dakota Fanning. Coming soon on the 26th of June 2009 (US). Maybe will come to singapore about 2 weeks later. Cant wait!!

Edited on June 24th 2009 - So sorry for my lame source (dont wanna be the one who admited wrong), Dakota fanning WILL NOT be in the movie!!! Disappointingly sad that based on this source, it's just because she's not prepared enough to shave her head bold. Thanks for kang Setip for telling me this :)
